The winner of the 2016 Valerie Baker Memorial Award, Daniel Bullock from Safeguard Insurance Brokers, has set his sights on flying the flag for the Australian Intermediary sector in the London Market.

Daniel Bullock heads for London

He leaves Australia in mid-September to see first-hand how Lloyd’s and the London Market operate. Daniel is looking to broaden the official opportunities the trip offers and create additional business ideas to supplement his current offerings.

Daniel’s official itinerary includes:

  • A week-long intensive at Lloyd’s of London Global Development Centre focusing on Emerging Risks
  • Attendance at Lloyd’s of London Asia Week
  • Focused learning activities with Managing Agencies and Lloyd’s brokers and reinsurers
  • Tour of Lloyd’s of London and meetings with senior managers
  • Meeting with BIBA, the UK Market’s NIBA equivalent

Looking forward to his trip, Daniel said, “Winning the Valerie Baker Award is a big thrill and has given me a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have been working with Sheila Baker, Managing Director of Gold Seal and Chris Mackinnon, Lloyds General Representative in Australia who have been very accommodating in planning my activities in an effort to obtain the most value for our broking business in SA and the broader Australian intermediary community. I’d like to thank the Award sponsors and Lloyds for this fantastic opportunity.”

Sheila Baker added “We feel that the Award is developing into a truly industry-based undertaking reflected by the range of representatives on the judging panel. The rigour we use in the judging process ensures that the winners demonstrate the values and ethics we can endorse. The growing stature of the Award is shown in the opportunities we have been able to secure for Daniel while he is in London - we are grateful to our London network and Lloyd’s Australia for helping us to secure these prestigious engagements”.

The Award recognises excellence in professional practice in the General Insurance intermediary sector and is sponsored by AIMS, Gold Seal and the Steadfast Group with the Award ceremony hosted by Lloyd’s.

Applications for the 2017 Award will open in November.

Daniel will be keeping a blog of his experiences and learnings whilst he is in London and you can follow these at www.goldsealchat.wordpress.com
