RG146 Compliance Qualifications and Accreditations

Gold Seal offer the following insurance qualifications and accreditation for RG146 Compliance:

Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking)

This course is aimed at current broking staff wishing to attain Tier 1 accreditation and/or upgrade to a Diploma level qualification, in particular Brokers / Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, Broking Managers and those who wish to hold Responsible Manager positions.

Certificate IV in Financial Services / Traineeship

This programme is aimed at general insurance and insurance broking staff wishing to attain, or upgrade to a Certificate IV level qualification, and includes Tier 2 Accreditation.  The first module in the Certificate IV can be used for new entrants to the industry or workplace and is suitable for inclusion as part of a workplace induction programme.  This is also an approved Traineeship pathway.

Tier 1 Insurance Broking

The Tier 1 programme is ASIC accredited and part of the Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking)  FNS50107, a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This course is aimed at current broking staff wishing to attain a Tier 1 (Insurance Broking) accreditation, in particular Account Executives and Senior Account Executives, and is also suitable for those wishing to bridge from General Insurance to Insurance Broking.

Entry Criteria / Pre-requisites.  Students are assumed to have existing working knowledge and skills relating to the industry sector and broking operations and as such must have completed Tier 2 accreditation for general insurance products and have at least 12 months broking experience. Prospective students who do not meet these criteria should contact Gold Seal on 03 9510 5100 for guidance prior to enrolment.

Delivery and Assessment.  Gold Seal’s Tier 1 programme is offered via either a distance education or workshop based programme. A phone and e-mail support service is available for individuals or groups. A Statement of Attainment will be issued to the student once they have been assessed and competency has been demonstrated.

  • Distance Education - Completion of the distance education module includes workplace-based assessment activities which will be verified through assessment portfolios submitted to Gold Seal.
  • Workshop-Based Programme  - The workshop-based programme consists of pre-course work, a 2-day interactive workshop and a comprehensive workplace assignment. Tier 2 General Insurance - General and Personal Advice

Gold Seal’s Tier 2 Accreditation programmes are aimed at existing general insurance and broking staff wishing to attain Tier 2 accreditation.

Entry Criteria. Students are assumed to have existing knowledge and skills relating to the industry sector and insurance operations and as such must have completed a comprehensive induction programme and have at least 3 months insurance sector work experience. Prospective students who do not meet these criteria should contact Gold Seal for guidance prior to enrolment

Delivery and Assessment. Gold Seal’s Tier 2 programmes are offered via distance education or workshop based programmes. A phone and email tutorial support service is available for both individuals and groups. A Statement of Attainment will be issued to the student once they have been assessed and competency demonstrated.

  • As part of Certificate IV or Traineeship - Students undertaking Tier 2 as part of a Certificate IV / Traineeship will complete an additional 5 competencies.  Download Certificate IV Brochure.
  • Short Course - You can complete Tier 2 with Gold Seal as a short course which will give you the two ASIC Advising competencies required for Tier 2 accreditation. Download Tier 2 Brochure.

Tier 1 to Diploma Upgrade

This Tier 1 accreditation programme is suitable for Insurance broking staff who have already completed Tier 1 (Insurance Broking) with Gold Seal or another provider and would like to go on and complete their Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking).  Generally this will involve completion of a distance education module and an RPL application.  Contact Gold Seal for an individual learning pathway for your upgrade. 

Tier 1 General Insurance to Insurance Broking Bridge

This bridging course is aimed at staff from a General Insurance background moving into broking. It will enable students to move from Tier 1 General Insurance compliance to Tier 1 Insurance Broking compliance. This ASIC (RG146) Accreditation for providing personal and general insurance broking advice to retail clients also covers product training relevant to the Tier 1 general insurance product sickness and accident. This programme DOES NOT cover the Tier 2 general insurance products.

Tier 2 General Advice Only 

This programme is aimed at licensees with a restricted product range. It will give students the Tier 2 general advice competency ‘Provide general advice on financial products and services’.
