Sheila joined Gold Seal in 2004 following five years running her own HR and Learning & Development consulting business. In the lead up to FSR, demand for her services grew amongst Gold Seal’s existing clients until it became clear that the financial services sector was where her market was heading. At that point Sheila followed Valerie into the organisation as a director of Gold Seal.

Under Sheila’s leadership, Gold Seal established a Registered Training Organisation in 2005, specialising in education in Insurance Broking disciplines. Her extensive prior experience in the L&D industry also enabled her to establish a high quality suite of professional development courses that accompany Gold Seal’s education services. These activities now form a major component of Gold Seal’s product and service offering.

Sheila was appointed Managing Director of Gold Seal in 2013 and her role has grown to encompass the provision of assistance to many Insurance Broking and Underwriting Agency businesses across all business practices including Compliance, Human Resources and Learning and Development. She also relishes the role of managing a team of talented professionals and Gold Seal’s business affairs and is in demand as a speaker at conferences.

Sheila works hard to understand profoundly the industry and legislative climate in which her clients operate and to incorporate that knowledge into practical, usable tools, resources and advice.

Lisa Cavanagh has been with Gold Seal since 2001. In her role, she provides back up and support to the Managing Director, Gold Seal staff, consultants and clients across all business interests.

Lisa has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years and held various Executive Assistant positions in the areas of Administration, Financial Management, Marketing and Promotions, Business Servicing/Retention, Customer Service, Education and Compliance.

In 2013 Lisa runs the demanding day-to-day operations of the organisation and business from our Gold Coast office. She is an invaluable, integral resource to Gold Seal and understands the entire scope of the operation from the ground up.

David has recently joined the Gold Seal team with responsibility for business development. He has over 37 years experience in the insurance industry and has worked in a wide variety of roles ranging from senior management with large corporate insurers and brokers through to owning his own Underwriting Agency and nearly everything in between.

David is a performance driven senior executive, with a strong P&L orientation, and a strong background in the development of new products and business ventures within the Australian insurance market.

Rebecca commenced with Gold Seal in 2002 as a Learning & Development Consultant. Rebecca holds tertiary qualifications in Adult Learning and Development as well as Workplace Assessment and Training.

She has an extensive background in Human Resources spanning 25 years that includes international work experience. She began her professional life in Human Resources in the banking sector before specialising in learning & development.

She has experience in various human resource functions including consulting, facilitation and administration. Her primary area of expertise is instructional design and development of learning and development programmes as well as procedural and reference manuals and materials.

Rebecca was responsible for producing the majority of Gold Seal’s initial education offerings including our Tier 1 and 2 programmes, and manages the production of new courses.

She is a talented writer and manager and is committed to the Gold Seal philosophy of assisting beyond expectation – an observation many of our happy clients and students have made.

In addition, Rebecca assists the MD with organisational management and is involved in the implementation of our strategic projects such as website management,Gold Seal’s e-learning environment goldseal campus and other major initiatives.

Lorraine commenced with Gold Seal in November 2005 as Manager, Audit & Technical Services. In her position, she manages audits (including the work we do for Lloyd’s and other insurers) and the provision of compliance support to our clients. Lorraine provides technical advice and support to our other auditors and consultants, and also gives compliance support and guidance to clients. She provides services in relation to training and education including subject matter expertise, delivery of workshops, review, design and assessment.

Prior to working with Gold Seal, Lorraine worked for several global and national insurance broking firms including Jardine Australian (now JLT) and Heath Lambert (now Marsh), principally managing commercial and corporate accounts. She has also worked as the Broker Services Manager of a national broking organisation while they were in the process of applying for their FSR license. Lorraine was appointed as a Responsible Manager, which gave her expert knowledge and insight into compliance requirements and dealing with authorised representatives.

In addition, Lorraine was a committee member of the Marine Insurance Discussion Group for many years, including two years as Chairman.

Lorraine holds a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training, a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking), and has completed Senior Professional Assessment 2. She is also a Senior Associate of Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, a Certified Insurance Professional and Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (retired).

Lehanne joined Gold Seal as an HR Consultant in October 2012. She manages the Gold Seal HR function by providing HR products, services and support to clients as well as working to ascertain their requirements in relation to HR documentation.

Prior to joining Gold Seal, Lehanne worked as both an Area Manager and Field Officer for MEGT Group Training for many years. Working within strict Government guidelines, Lehanne managed a team of field staff and provided recruitment services, mentoring and ongoing support to employers and trainees in various industries.

Lehanne also has a generalist HR background having worked in an HR Management role within the retail industry where she was responsible for administering payroll, succession planning, rostering, recruitment, training and induction of staff, together with the management of workplace health and safety.

Lehanne is the editor of the Human Resource Management System ensuring it is compliant with current workplace legislation and reflects current best practice. She is also the author of our newsletters, e-advices and many of our articles.

Her varied background in terms of the sizes of businesses she has dealt with in her career means callers to the HR/IR Helpline receive both sound advice and a practical manner. She relates well to SME imperatives and understands the needs and concerns of our specific client base.

Liz commenced with Gold Seal in 2008 and has been a vital member of the Education and Training team since then. With roles encompassing co-ordination of all pre- and post- activities for workshops, student and client liaison, general administration, product marketing, financial accountability and statistical reporting, Liz is also largely accountable for general office management and the smooth running of most day-to-day activities.

After over 15 years at a large multi-national IT company, Liz assimilated quickly into the smaller team environment at Gold Seal, and brings together her experience gained in the large and small corporate worlds to the best advantage of understanding and meeting all of our client’s needs.

With her quick wit and repartee, Liz is a familiar voice on the phone to many who call our Melbourne office and she establishes rapport readily with all our callers.

Helen joined Gold Seal as a Project Manager in 2013. She is a Learning & Development professional with over 15 years’ experience in designing, delivering and implementing training within projects and complex organisational environments enabling growth, progress and positive change.

Helen’s consultative and hands-on approach ensures she builds stakeholder rapport quickly. She is not afraid to roll up her sleeves, understand the detail and do whatever is required to make the customer experience a pleasurable one. She is consistently regarded as a trusted resource, problem solver and a key member of the Gold Seal team.

In her current role, Helen has turned her hand to managing Gold Seal’s projects and as such she has a “roving” brief in ensuring our bespoke services are delivered on time and within budget. This ensures she works across all divisions of the business and so she regularly engages with all our clients and staff to ensure great outcomes and client satisfaction.

Prior to joining Gold Seal, Katrina worked in various IT and compliance roles in the Financial Services Industry for over 8 years. She commenced with Gold Seal in February 2016, she has a specialist skill and background in administration in complex broking compliance roles including those dealing with the administration and system requirements of Authorised Representative networks.

With a highly analytical approach and a strong eye for detail, she makes a great contribution to the extensive documentation needs of our busy Audit & Technical Services division. Her primary role is the administration of Coverholder audits and support for the compliance support team.

In her “spare” time, Katrina assists the education and training department with website updates, the administration aspects of goldseal campus and student liaison.

Prior to joining Gold Seal in 2016, Natelle worked within a number of organisations in the Australian Public Sector including Department of Defence and Department of Human Services. Natelle’s generalist HR experience spans over 23 years and includes recruitment, payroll, staff inductions, rehabilitation case management (compensation and early intervention) and providing workplace relations HR advice to both management and staff, working under a variety of strict Government regulations. Natelle’s knowledge, attention to detail and lateral thinking enabled her to provide extensive support and advice throughout her career. At Gold Seal she provides support to the Manager HR Services and to senior management in general, and her duties range from administration of large training client accounts to assisting in the update of Gold Seal’s HR Resources.

Eileen commenced as a consultant with Gold Seal in March 2003. Prior to joining Gold Seal Eileen worked for Willis Australia Pty Ltd and Jardine Australia Insurance Brokers. For many years Eileen has managed commercial/domestic portfolios and operated binders for local and Lloyd’s insurers. Upon leaving Willis Eileen set up her own company, specialising in workplace training.

Since joining Gold Seal Eileen has worked with our clients assisting them to implement FSR compliant systems and processes and has facilitated numerous guidance and training sessions.

Mr Val Croft has been a consultant with Gold Seal since 1997. In this role, he has assessed and monitored insurance brokers for compliance with the Financial Services Reform requirements, conducted Lloyd’s coverholder audits and assisted with professional indemnity claim avoidance procedures.

Val worked in the Insurance industry for over 40 years as an Underwriter for 11 years, and then as a broker with Sedgwick (now Marsh Pty Limited). During his tenure at Sedgwick he held a variety of positions including Claims, Account Management, Service Director, Operations Director and Chief Executive (Victoria).

Since 1997 Val has worked on a variety of ongoing and one off projects, including as a consultant to discretionary mutual fund that facilitates professional indemnity insurance, Gold Seal compliance and audits for Brokers and Coverholders, student assessment for Certificate IV and Diploma modules and the development of a number of professional indemnity loss control programmes.

Val is a member of the Australian Institute of Risk Management and National Insurance Brokers Association of Australia and has held various positions of responsibility.

Val is a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and a Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (retired).

Colleen’s insurance experience started in an Insurance Brokerage where she worked for 21 years as Office Manager, responsible for all of the Brokerages’ Compliance and HR, as well as Staff Training and contributing to business growth objectives by assisting with retention of business and development of new business. Colleen left the Insurance Brokerage to travel overseas and on her return worked for three years in an Insurance Underwriting Agency and then joined NIBA as an assessor/trainer in 2009 until 2015.

Colleen has been an assessor with Gold Seal since July 2016, and holds a Diploma in Financial Services (Brok) and Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.

Lynda Davies returned as a consultant to Gold Seal in 2017.

For the period from October 2002 to October 2007 Lynda was involved with compliance activities and coverholder audits as a Gold Seal consultant. During this time she developed a good understanding of client companies’ business, stakeholders and financials. She facilitated project management of tasks that enabled clients to obtain their financial services licences and worked with Gold Seal clients by supporting their compliance activities. Lynda also undertook Compliance audits of various insurance broking houses which resulted in the identification and improvement of internal company procedures, systems and policies.

Lynda also undertook coverholder audits during this time on behalf of various Managing Agents.

After leaving Gold Seal, Lynda worked with Indemnity Corporation as their Compliance Manager. Following the merger of Indemnity Corporation in to Steadfast IRS Pty Limited Lynda became the Group Compliance Manager. Steadfast IRS Pty Limited is an Australian based insurance broker and Lloyd’s coverholder formed by bringing together various insurance broking businesses. During this time Lynda worked on all compliance related functions.

Lynda has Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace training and has attended various training courses including project management and Compliance Managers workshops.

Lynda is an Associate of the Governance, Risk Management and Compliance Institute and is an Affiliate of ANZIIF.
